Full Job Description

Our client is committed to improving the health and well-being of students in the local schools. They provide comprehensive healthcare services directly within the school setting to promote access to care and support academic success. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join their school-based health team.

The School-Based NP/PA will provide primary healthcare services to students, focusing on preventive care, management of chronic conditions, acute care, and health education. The role involves working closely with school staff, parents, and community healthcare providers to ensure the best possible care for students. This is a unique opportunity to practice in a school setting and make a meaningful impact on student health and academic performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive primary care services to students, including well-child visits, physical exams, immunizations, and health screenings
  • Diagnose and treat common acute illnesses and manage chronic conditions such as asthma, diabetes, and ADHD
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as needed
  • Collaborate with school nurses, counselors, and other staff to coordinate care and promote student wellness
  • Educate students and families about health promotion, disease prevention, and managing chronic conditions
  • Conduct health assessments and refer students to specialists or community resources as necessary
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records in compliance with HIPAA and school district policies
  • Participate in school wellness initiatives and contribute to a healthy school environment
  • Serve as a resource for health-related education to students, parents, and school staff
  • Promote safe and healthy practices within the school community, including infection prevention and mental health support
  • Work with local healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care for students with complex medical needs

Requirements:

  • Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in NY.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant Studies
  • Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience, preferably in pediatric or family medicine
  • Experience working in a school-based or community health setting is a plus
  • Strong diagnostic and clinical skills, with an ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a passion for working with children and adolescents
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems
  • BLS/CPR certification required

Please note- The annual base salary range is $115k to $125k. Actual compensation offered to the successful candidate may vary from posted hiring range based upon geographic location, work experience, education, and/or skill level, among other things. Details about eligibility for bonus compensation (if applicable) will be finalized at the time of offer.
