Summary

We seek to add an experienced Per Diem Orthopedic Physician Assistant (PA) for Weekdays, Nights or Weekends.

This Per Diem Opportunity is steady!!

PA can choose a from 2 to 6 shifts/month!!

The new PA will be part of a growing team that is hospital-based. The position will include some first assisting (orthopedic cases), ER, floor management, inpatient admits and discharges, rounds, ED consults and procedures. The new PA will work directly with a team of Orthopedic Surgeons! Cases include shoulders, knees, total joints, and fractures.

Responsibilities:

  • Surgical first assist
  • Patient evaluations and ED consults
  • Coordinate with PT and OT
  • Cortisone Injections and aspirations
  • Order and evaluate tests
  • Pre and post-operative H&P’s and follow-up
  • Reductions, aspirations, casting and splinting
  • Hospital rounding
  • Write scripts
  • Evaluate X-ray, CT Scan and MRI

Non-Clinical Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates professional collaborative and consultative relationships with other providers.
  • Follows all designated prescriptive practices and monitoring requirements with the designated supervising physician and administrative report.
  • Participates in departmental and organizational committees and programs as appropriate and attends all required meetings, in-services, and professional trainings.
  • Maintains superior interpersonal and communication skills as a member of the healthcare team
  • Remains actively involved in continuing education with a commitment to self and departmental growth.
  • Adheres to all established safety policies, procedures, and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation.
  • Demonstrates understanding of procedures, policies, and documentation required to ensure compliance with hospital standards of care.
  • Additional duties and responsibilities as required by the department/division.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved PA program
  • Possess/Maintain National Certification through NCCPA for PAs
  • Current/valid Massachusetts NP or PA license
  • Current DEA registration (for the state of Massachusetts) and a Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration (MCSR).
  • This position allows for a high degree of autonomy and thus requires prior orthopedic experience

  • Must be energetic and quality driven and have a proven ability to be a productive member of a team dedicated to providing optimal patient care.
  • May be asked to fulfill other credentialing requirements per Medical Staff Services

Schedule:

  • 10 hour shift
  • 12 hour shift

Pay: $97.00 – $100.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 24 per week
