Turning Point Recovery Center is currently seeking a full-time Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to manage patient care in both our outpatient and inpatient facilities.

Responsibilities:

As part of our dedicated and compassionate medical team, you will take a holistic approach to patient care, focusing on substance use and co-occurring disorders.

Your responsibilities include:

Conduct thorough examinations, obtain medical histories, document findings, and formulate preliminary diagnoses with a focus on primary substance use disorders and secondary diagnoses of co-occurring disorders.

Craft comprehensive, culturally competent, trauma-informed treatment and recovery plans incorporating non-pharmacological and pharmacological strategies to address substance use disorders and co-occurring disorders, ensuring personalized and empathetic care.

Collaboratively develop treatment plans responsive to the patient’s emotional, social, cognitive, developmental, and behavioral needs while maintaining a stance of cultural humility.

Prescribe medications, actively collaborate with our team’s psychotherapists, and closely monitor and adjust treatment as necessary.

Employ diverse evaluation methods, including interviews with patients, families, or clinical staff, to comprehensively understand the patient’s condition.

Address the root causes of substance use and co-occurring disorders when possible, adapting treatment plans to maximize effectiveness and minimize adverse effects, and facilitating Controlled Substances Treatment Agreements when appropriate.

Educate patients about their conditions and treatments, including potential side effects and interactions.

Continuously evaluate patients on psychotropic medications for possible behavioral intervention and medication tapering when appropriate.

Provide timely crisis intervention, consulting with primary care physicians and other providers, and supervising physicians to ensure optimal treatment.

Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, adhere to practice standards, and engage in continuous learning and partnership with our medical team.

Ensure detailed electronic health record (EHR) documentation.

Serve as a key liaison to maintain continuity of care, participate in quality monitoring, and contribute to developing practice policies and standards.

Receive medical direction from our Medical Director and administrative direction from our Executive Director.

Required Qualifications:

Appropriate state accreditation as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (PA-C) and a DEA License.

Proficiency in managing opioid use disorder and familiarity with psychotropic medications, along with a solid understanding of relevant regulations.

Demonstrated ability to offer compassionate, respectful, and empathetic care to adult and geriatric patients.

Strong critical thinking, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to work independently and as part of a team.

Ability to physically perform job duties, including moving and lifting, and occasional travel to other local sites as needed.
