Norwalk Hospital, a part of Nuvance Health is seeking a per diem experienced Surgical Physician Assistant (PA) to join our long-established teaching Surgical PA Residency program and growing Surgical Advanced Practitioner Service at Norwalk Hospital in Norwalk, Connecticut. Norwalk Hospital is located about 50 miles outside of New York City in lower Fairfield County Connecticut. This is a great opportunity to have an active role supervising our Surgical Residents and work on the floors. Physician Assistant candidates can also assist in the OR across a wide range of surgical sub-specialties.
This is an employed position with Nuvance Health Medical Practice. We offer a competitive hourly rate. You are also eligible to participate in our 401k and wellness programs.
- History and physical examinations
- Pre- and post-operative care of patients
- Active participation on the trauma team
- Participation in the education and hands-on training of PA residents and PA students and medical students during surgical rotations at Norwalk Hospital
- OR assisting
Norwalk Hospital, a Level II Trauma Center, is accredited as a Stroke Center and certified to provide Emergency Angioplasty for heart attack. Established in 1893, Norwalk Hospital is a 366 bed, not-for-profit community hospital providing Fairfield and Westchester County residents convenient access to exceptional care, close to home. As a teaching hospital, we are associated with Yale University School of Medicine, University of Vermont College of Medicine, American University of the Caribbean and Ross University School of Medicine.
- Baccalaureate degree.
- Graduate of an approved PA Program and a post-graduate training program in surgery or at least one year surgical or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of surgical critical care, preferred.
- Current Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) or Board Certified Nurse Practitioner.
- Physician Assistant licensure or Connecticut State of CT RN and APRN license.
- CT State Controlled Substance and Federal DEA Registration.
- ATLS, ACLS & BLS certification are required. ATLS training will be scheduled as necessary.
- Ability to work two shifts per month, either 8, 12 or 24 hours: 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8AM-8PM, or 24hr call.
