Full Job Description

Summary

Reporting to the Physician Assistant (PA) Director, the General Surgery/Trauma physician assistant, under the supervision of the surgeon, performs advanced diagnostic and therapeutic tasks related to surgery and trauma. Acts as a first or second assistant in surgery. Participates in pre and post-operative patient care. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement/performance improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned. The Medical Staff Bylaws and Title 16 of the California Administrative Code grant the PA’s privileges as outlined.

Qualification

BA or equivalent and completion of physician assistant course

Current CA State Physicians Assistant License granted by the Physician Assistant Examining Committee and DEA registration

BLS

ACLS

Wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an employee’s qualifications, experience, and personal productivity.
