Job Location
Duke Women’s Health Navaho Drive – 1200 Navaho Dr – Raleigh, NC; Duke Urogynecology Patterson Place – 5324 Mcfarland Rd – Durham, NC
We are seeking an Advanced Practice Provider for Duke Urogynecology in Raleigh, NC as well as Duke Urogynecology Patterson Place in Durham, NC. The APP will work in collaboration with physicians and advanced practice providers providing direct patient care services, collecting and documenting data, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and ordering and scheduling laboratory studies and professional consultations included but not limited to patients with pelvic organ prolapse, stress urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, urinary retention, recurrent urinary tract infection and levator myalgia.
Primary hours will be Monday through Friday 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM with hours flexible to meet the needs of the patients. Clinical and administrative sessions are generally 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM. There is a possibility of Saturday hours as well as extended and alternative hours expected upon request/scheduling needs.
Prefer 1+ years of work experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Women’s Health
JOb RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide direct patient care services and perform procedures for women in the outpatient setting under the supervision of the Urogynecology physicians.
- Obtain medical histories, perform general physical examinations, general/routine gynecological examinations (speculum, bimanual pelvic examinations), POP-Q exams, Pap smears, urethral catheterizations, pessary fittings/management and endometrial biopsies.
- Collect and document data, assess, evaluate, analyze and interpret data in order to formulate problem lists and establishes plans for resolution of clinical problems.
- Communicate verbally and in writing all pertinent patient information to supervising physician, referring physician, home health nursing staff, hospice agency and other relevant healthcare providers.
- Collaborate with attending physicians, fellows, residents, and clinical staff to assess, diagnose, plan, set priorities and realistic outcomes, and evaluate the effectiveness of patient care. Initiate consultation request to specialists or other health professionals as appropriate.
- Evaluate and treat same day and urgent add-on patient visits.
- Assess patients for change in status and institute appropriate interventions.
Job Hours

Job Eligibility Requirements
Education
- Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master’s degree in Nursing.
- Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Certification
- BLS required
License
- Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
- Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Experience
- Prefer 1+ years of work experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in Women’s Health
