Statement of Purpose
Under supervision of the Medical Director or physician, the physician assistant works in BHS clinic as part of the professional team of physicians and other healthcare staff. Position provides services to a diverse set of patients. Healthcare services may include, but not limited to: conducting complete physicals, provide treatment and counsel patients. Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination. Position complies with credentialing and privileging activities.
Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities
Take comprehensive and detailed patient histories
Develop medical status reports
Order diagnostic, radiological, and laboratory studies appropriate for the patients condition
Perform physical examinations and record relevant data in medical forms
Present medical diagnoses and begin therapy or refer patients to the appropriate physicians or health care facilities
Provide call coverage for urgent medical issues that arise after hours.
Attend clinical and site meetings in support of clinical initiatives and policy development.
Accurately and appropriately transcribe and execute physicians orders
Interpret and assess patient data to plan for patient treatment and management
Provide guidance and instructions regarding medical care to patients

Prerequisite Qualifications
Following are the qualifications and competencies required to perform the essential functions of this position. Qualifications may be subject to modification based on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Current California Physician License, DEA Certificate, and CPR. Experience working with clients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Ability to travel as needed. Failure to maintain certification or licensure will result in loss of employment. Bilingual ability helpful.
Able to stand, stoop, bend, squat and reach for purpose of performing job duties such as handling materials stocked on shelves, filing, lifting and assisting in emergency situations. Vision, hearing, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination must be adequate for performance of job duties. Able to sit at desk, use keyboard, write and physically perform other job duties
Must have valid California drivers license and liability insurance if driving personal vehicle on BHS business.
Failure to maintain certification or licensure will result in loss of employment.
