Job Overview:

- Shift Details: 6A-6:30P or 6P-6:30A
- Schedule: 3/12hr shifts/week, typically including 3 weekend shifts/month and 3-night shifts/month.
Compensation
- Local: $160/hour
- Travel: $6,000/week
Work Details:The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will primarily work within the Cardiothoracic Surgery department, focusing on the following responsibilities:
- Assist minimally in surgeries due to the presence of 2 fellows on service; the role will involve predominantly ICU work with potential additional OR assistance.
- Occasionally round with heart failure/transplant teams, ICU staff, and mechanical circulatory support units.
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and other clinical and administrative staff to ensure effective patient management, including:
- Taking patient histories and performing physical examinations.
- Coordinating peri-operative planning and collaborating with outside providers and primary care providers as needed.
- Responding to changes in patient status and managing prescriptions, evaluations, referrals, diagnostic tests, and treatments as permitted.
- Evaluating for and ordering home health services, durable medical equipment (DME), DMV certifications, consultations, physical therapy, and imaging/diagnostic tests.
- Providing patient and family education, arranging follow-up appointments, and engaging in approved privileges after demonstrating competency through proctoring and the FPPE process.

Requirements:
- Board Certification: Yes (must have a Master’s in PA Studies if applying as a PA)
- License: Active California License required
- DEA Registration: Yes
- Certifications: AHA ACLS/BLS required
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in cardiothoracic surgery, vascular surgery, cardiology, or critical care ICU experience. Strongly prefer candidates with surgical procedural experience; endoscopic vein harvest (EVH) experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Credentialing Timeframe:45-90 days
