Full Job Description

Primary Function:

Provides primary healthcare to a select group of patients within one’s area of training/expertise; focusing on wellness promotion, illness prevention, and managing minor acute and stable chronic illness, in collaboration with the supervising Physician in accordance with education and state laws.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Triage, diagnose and treat illness and physical conditions within the specialty area of practice.

Assess physical and psycho-social health status through medical history and physical examination.

Orders and interpret laboratory tests.

Perform therapeutic and corrective measures including prescribing medication and provides preventive health maintenance and education.

Teach and counsel patients, families and groups.

Adheres to all CHCB’s clinical policies and procedures, including infection control principles and confidentiality.

Provides clinical direction to the RNs, LPNs and Medical Assistants.

Adheres to the conditions specified in the Physician Assistant Practice Agreement.

Participates in quality improvement activities.

Complies with all the guidelines set by the supervising physician in accordance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery.

Performs special assignments as requested by the Chief Executive Officer or the Medical Director.

Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes and protects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed.

Directs, instructs and evaluates physician assistant students assigned to CHCB.

Regular attendance is required. Attends meetings as required.

Performs other relevant duties as assigned or requested.

Physical Demands: Requires period of sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Evening work is required.

Minimum Qualifications: Physician Assistant degree from an accredited University. Physician Assistant license registration certificate and DEA registration certificate for the state of New York. National certification in specialty area. Computer literacy. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook.

Pay: $45.26 – $54.63/hr.
