Responsibilities
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant performs the following tasks in any authorized setting. Inpatient rounds on cardiac and thoracic surgery patients, outpatient preop and post op visits for cardiac and thoracic patients, and some OR first assisting.
- Schedule 2x 10 hour shifts a week. (Mon, Tues or Friday preferred days) willing to negotiate hours and days.
- 4- 5 call nights (4p-7a either cardiac or thoracic call) a month (OR, inpatient and outpatient calls includes ED, thoracic surgery consults and admissions if needed.
- 1 weekend call every 6 weekends.
- 1 holiday a year.
The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant at Mayo Clinic also may perform the following tasks in any authorized setting:
- Obtaining patient history
- Performing physical examinations
- Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Formulating a diagnostic impression
- Developing and implementing a treatment plan
- Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
- Making appropriate referrals
- Prescribing and dispensing prescription medication in accordance with FL state laws and department policies
- Demonstrates ability to assess data reflective of patient’s status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
- Assist with ongoing departmental process improvement and policy development
- Other departmental or institutional committee assignments as needed

Qualifications
Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current AZ RN and APRN license and certification as a ACNP
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the AZ State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications:
Active BLS, ACLS and RN First Assist certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required
