I’m Edwin Rinvil-Wailes, MD, the Medical Director for Sound’s practice at Montefiore Mount Vernon in Mount Vernon, NY. For the past two years, I’ve proudly served as part of the Sound Physicians team, contributing to our integrated care model that encompasses emergency medicine, hospitalist medicine, and intensive care.

Our People
- Become a part of our tight-knit, established team of four physicians and two advanced practice providers (APPs) in the Mount Vernon, NY area.
- Work within a structured team environment with one physician and one APP during the day shift, and a dedicated physician covering the night shift.
- Collaborate closely with our APPs, who manage patients alongside supervising physicians.
- Join a team that represents a diverse background from NYC, NJ, and the Hudson Valley.
- I actively participate in all medical staff meetings and committees, ensuring a culture of shared decision-making and professional development.
Our Practice
- We’re proud to serve as a Level 3 trauma community hospital, boasting a 130-year legacy.
- Our facility includes a 15-bed census for medical and surgical patients, a 5-bed ICU, and 22 inpatient psychiatry beds, all expertly staffed by Sound Physicians.
- Located just outside the Bronx, we provide care to a diverse patient population, with a low-volume ED and high acuity, offering essential specialty services in cardiology, gastroenterology, neurology, and more.
- We’re a designated primary receiving stroke center and a geriatric accredited emergency department, one of only three hospitals in southern NY to serve as a department of correction (DOC) receiving facility with a 10-bed DOC unit.
- Our outpatient clinic operates conveniently on-site, adjacent to the main building.
- We gather as a team bi-monthly, promoting a culture of support and flexibility to accommodate personal and outdoor pursuits.
- Compensation: $150,000-$165,000 annually
- Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, life and AD&D insurance, long- and short-term disability, 401k with match, paid medical malpractice and tail coverage, and annual CME allowance.
