Job Title: Physician Assistant
Location: Correctional facility 1060 River Rd, Petersburg, VA 23860
Contract Duration: 4 Months Contract + Possible Extension
Pay rate: $120/hr
Hours: 8 one-hour sessions per week, scheduled Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (excludes Federal Holidays).

About the Role
Join CTI for the Correctional facility as a Physician Assistant (PA), providing high-quality healthcare services to federal offenders. This is a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working in a secure correctional facility. You will collaborate with healthcare professionals to deliver essential medical care, support emergency medical needs, and contribute to the well-being of the inmate population.

- Professional attire required.
- Correctional facility setting; adaptability to security protocols is essential.
Work Schedule:
- Hours: 8 one-hour sessions per week, scheduled Monday to Friday between 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (excludes Federal Holidays).
- Schedule subject to agreement with the Health Services Administrator (HSA).
- Occasional delays due to security matters may occur.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare staff to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Conduct daily sick calls, including securing patient health histories and performing critical evaluations.
- Provide primary care services and manage emergencies in the absence of a physician.
- Perform minor surgical procedures (e.g., suturing, incision & drainage, removal of cysts) after consultation with the supervising physician.
- Prescribe medications and treatments, considering potential interactions and cumulative effects.
- Request and interpret diagnostic tests (e.g., lab work, x-rays, EKGs) and manage follow-up care.
- Conduct screenings in various fields, including optometry, mental health, and dental, to identify and address patient needs.
- Develop patient care plans in consultation with the supervising physician, particularly for chronic or complex health conditions.
- Maintain up-to-date and legible patient records in accordance with institutional policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of documented experience as a PA in clinical settings.
- Active state licensure.
- CPR certification.
- Skills: Strong clinical judgment, ability to work independently, knowledge of medical practices, and experience in emergency care and minor surgical procedures.
Health & Security Requirements:
- Must be free of communicable diseases and pass all required health screenings.
- Compliance with security protocols and ability to work within a correctional environments (e.g., suturing, incision & drainage, removal of cysts) after consultation with the supervising physician.
