Full Job Description
General Summary: A nonexempt position in which an advanced practice provider who is currently licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana, who meets the State’s requirement’s governing the qualifications of nurse practitioners or physician’s assistant and who meets one of the following conditions:
a) Currently certified by ANA, AANP, ANCC or NCCPA.
b) Has satisfactorily completed a formal 1 academic year educational program that :
- Prepared to perform an expanded role in the delivery of primary care;
- Includes at least 4 months (in the aggregate) of classroom instruction and a component of supervised clinical practice; and awards a degree, diploma, or certificate to persons who successfully complete the program
Essential Job Functions:
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability, including but not limited to serving in the first assisting role.
- Assists with the provision of surgical care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions. Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
Equipment Operated: Standard medical exam/office equipment, which includes stethoscope, sphygmomanometer, procedure instruments, clinical laboratory equipment, computerized health information system, etc.
Work Environment: Combination of medical office and exam/procedure room setting that is well-lighted, well ventilated and maintains adequate space.
Mental/Physical Requirements: Must be able to withstand long periods of standing and walking, appropriately use body mechanic techniques. Occasional stress from dealing with a large staff and large patient load.
*Starting Pay is $100,000/yr with a production bonus*
