Our Practice was formed in 2000 and has grown from two doctors to twelve currently. Our Providers are plastic, orthopedic and hand fellowship trained. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Hospital inpatient and emergency room consults, hospital rounds, and assistance with inpatient and outpatient surgery.
- Responsible for providing medical care as delegated by the physician.
- Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with the care plan, and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as X-ray, EMG, MRI, CT, and laboratory testing, and interprets test results for deviations from normal.
- Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, suturing wounds, wound care, and managing infection.
- Educates patients and families as appropriate and provides continuity of care.
- Assists physician in clinic and operating room settings.
- Participates in rounds at the hospital and responds to patient calls received after hours and weekends.
- Consults with other staff as necessary.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Utilizes practice technology including, but not limited to, electronic health record, dictation, and outcomes to their full capability to ensure excellent patient care.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in provision of continuity of care.
- Travels with physician as required to various offices, hospitals, and surgery centers.
Skills/Abilities:
· Knowledge of acute and chronic protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care following treatment plan.
· Knowledge of how to assess patient health as well as diagnose and record treatment.
· Skill in accurately evaluating patient problems in person or via phone and providing appropriate advice, intervention and/or referral.
· Skill in evaluating and revising the care plan based on patient changes.
· Adaptability as required by the variation in patient and emergent case load.
· Ability to make responsible decisions within the scope of an independent medical practitioner.
· Ability to develop health education programs and materials.
· Ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.
Education:
· Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
· Current State license.
· If NP, RNFA (Preferred)
Experience:
· Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner: 2 years (Preferred)
