Full Job Description

Gastrointestinal Specialist, LLC is a single specialty gastroenterology group providing care in southeastern Massachusetts. We are currently seeking a full-time nurse practitioner or physician assistant to join our exceptional provider team of 8 physicians and 2 APP providers.

We are interested in meeting with applicants with an interest in gastroenterology and providing exceptional care in both an inpatient and office setting. Experienced preferred. New graduates welcome.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients with acute and chronic GI conditions in both an office and in-patient setting.
  • Assist with in-patient rounding per hospital rotation in collaboration with existing Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant.
  • Perform pre-procedure assessments on patients requiring GI procedures.
  • Documentation of all patient assessments in electronic medical record.
  • Recommend diagnostic testing and procedures as necessary.
  • Prescribe appropriate GI medications as necessary.
  • Promptly respond to patient messages.
  • Work collaboratively with supervising physician as well as all providers and staff members of GIS.
  • Follow HIPAA and OSHA guidelines.
  • Maintain all required state and federal licenses and certifications.
  • Additional requirements as needed to support patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an approved master’s program in nursing or physician assistant program
  • Certification and license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Current or eligible for federal DEA.
  • Current or eligible for state controlled substance registration.
  • Will assist new graduates with license, DEA and MCSR application process.
  • Hospital privileges. Will assist with application process.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Ability to travel within our organization.
