Location/Hours

We are located at 55 Highland Ave, Salem, MA. Our practice can be found at the Highland Hall building, suite 104 on the Salem Hospital campus.

In this office we provide assessment and management of patients with pulmonary disease and sleep disorders.

We are seeking a full time, 40-hour Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work onsite Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm. Weekly schedules consist of 32 hours of clinical, patient-facing time, 4 hours of administrative time, and 4 hours of indirect work.

What You Will Do

Our Pulmonology/Sleep Medicine team is looking for a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant to support access for our growing clinic. Under the clinical supervision of the medical director of the office, the NP/PA will oversee and participate in the care of patients with both acute and chronic conditions in the outpatient setting. The NPs/PAs responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Evaluating and managing patients with pulmonary and sleep disorders, focusing on patients with COPD, asthma, sleep apnea within the scope of practice of an APP with appropriate physician supervision.
  • Performing a complete physical exam, obtaining complete medical history and records findings.
  • Ordering appropriate laboratory and diagnostic procedures.
  • Interpreting and integrating data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan.
  • Triaging and responding to patient telephone calls as necessary.
  • Assisting physicians with results management and patient follow-up.
  • Collaborating with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients.
  • Ensuring proper monitoring and continuity of care between physician visits –including same day visits.
  • Assisting in coordination of care for transitions of care (hospital to rehab, hospital to office, etc).
  • Administering medications and injections in compliance with state law and clinic guidelines.
  • Instructing patient/family regarding medications and treatments.
  • Educating patients regarding health and illness prevention.
  • Recommending community resources as needed to meet patient and family needs.
  • Actively supporting patient safety program; adhering to applicable patient safety standards including NQF Safe Practices.
  • Preparing written documentation as required in the patients’ medical record following standard clinical practice, including CPT Coding guidelines and the assigned practice’s policy.
  • Maintaining and reviewing patient electronic medical record and other pertinent information.
  • Participating in performance improvement projects and care coordination.
  • Following North Shore Physicians Group policies and procedures faithfully; attending meetings and continuing educations opportunities as directed. Seeking to expand skills and professional knowledge.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in nursing or physician assistant studies required.

Experience:

  • Prior Pulmonology and/or Sleep experience preferred.

Certification:

  • Certified Massachusetts Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant licensure required upon hire.
