Intermountain Medical Center Trauma Services encompasses a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering the highest quality of care to over 3,000 trauma patients per year. As part of the team, you will support and be supported by advanced practice providers (APPs), trauma surgeons, nurses, physicians, and support staff.

This Trauma Services APP will provide care to patients from admission to discharge. This includes responsibilities in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care and other inpatient units, and follow-up care in our trauma clinic. You will participate in procedures, patient resuscitation, research and performance improvement, may first assist during trauma surgeries, among many other opportunities throughout the Level I Trauma Center.

Trauma Services provides 24/7 coverage, 365 days per year. This means your schedule will vary depending on department needs. A mixture of day, night, weekend, and holiday shifts are to be expected, typically 8-12 hours in length. However, no call is anticipated.

To be successful in this position, we highly prefer an APP with a background in critical or emergency medicine.

Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) are accountable for the provision of patient care at top of licensure, within their scope of practice. Licensed, credentialed and privileged to perform such duties as maintenance and promotion of health and prevention of disease; assessment, diagnosis, treatment, correction, consultation, procedures as outlined by specialty, and referral for health problems; education of the patient, patient’s family, clinical staff, and others; prescription or administration of prescription drugs or devices in accordance with a consultation and referral plan; consultation with other healthcare providers; appropriate and timely documentation of clinical care; and continually learning and developing for optimal patient care and outcomes.

APPs may also participate in research and utilizes evidence-based practice to promote quality patient care, protocol development, care process model development, and best practice standards for assigned patient population.

Minimum Qualifications Current state license as a Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner. – and – Eligible for state Controlled Substance License II through V. – and – Eligible for Federal DEA Certificate II through V. – and – Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers. – and – Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Physical Requirements:

Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. – and – Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. – and – Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. – and – Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. – and – Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc). – and – May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience.

$53.77 – $82.97
