Position Overview: The Texas Pulmonary Institute in Port Arthur, Texas, is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Physician Assistant to join our dedicated team of healthcare professionals. As a Physician Assistant specializing in Pulmonary Care, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient-centered care and assisting our esteemed medical practitioners in diagnosing and treating a wide range of pulmonary conditions. We offer a competitive starting salary of $122,000 (base), along with comprehensive health benefits and opportunities for professional growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with board-certified pulmonologists to provide comprehensive and patient-centered care to individuals with pulmonary diseases.
  • Perform thorough patient assessments, including medical histories, physical examinations, and diagnostic tests to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Order and interpret relevant laboratory tests, radiological studies, and pulmonary function tests to assess lung function and disease progression.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, which may include medication management, lifestyle recommendations, and medical procedures, under the guidance of supervising physicians.
  • Assist in the management of patients requiring ventilator support, oxygen therapy, and other advanced respiratory interventions.
  • Educate patients and their families about pulmonary conditions, treatment options, and preventive measures to promote informed decision-making and proactive health management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, documenting patient progress, treatment plans, and communication with other healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure seamless coordination of care and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Optional: Participate in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives to advance the field of pulmonology and enhance patient care.

Qualifications:

  • Current Texas state licensure as a Physician Assistant, with certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • Prior experience or strong interest in pulmonary care is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Excellent communication skills and a compassionate demeanor when interacting with patients and their families.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other relevant healthcare technologies.
