Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant — Newport Community Health

What You’ll Do
As part of our care team, you’ll provide the full range of outpatient primary care to patients of all ages. Day to day, you will:
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients across the lifespan — preventive visits, acute concerns, and ongoing management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, COPD, and thyroid disease.
- Perform physical exams and wellness visits, order and interpret labs and diagnostic studies, and develop clear, practical care plans with your patients.
- Prescribe medications in accordance with Tennessee law and your collaborative/supervising physician agreement, using our Dr. First e-prescribing system.
- Screen for behavioral-health and substance-use needs as part of whole-person primary care, and connect patients with counseling, treatment, and community resources when appropriate.
- Provide patient education and coordinate referrals to specialists, keeping the patient at the center of every decision.
- Document accurately and on time in our electronic health record, and support clean, compliant coding for billing.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in keeping with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, which protects the privacy of substance-use records.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative clinic culture and to quality-improvement efforts that help us serve our community better.
What We’re Looking For
- Current, unrestricted Tennessee license as a Nurse Practitioner (APRN) or Physician Assistant.
- National board certification (e.g., AANP/ANCC for NPs; NCCPA for PAs).
- Active DEA registration, or eligibility to obtain one.
- Current BLS certification (ACLS a plus).
- Primary care, family medicine, or community-health experience preferred; new graduates with the right heart for this work are welcome to apply.
- Comfort with electronic health records; experience with UnifiMD is a plus but not required — we’ll help you get up to speed.
- Strong communication skills, sound clinical judgment, and a genuine commitment to serving a rural community.
