Job Summary:Attends a patient in any setting to obtain a personal medical history, perform an appropriate physical examination, and record and present pertinent data concerning the patient in a manner meaningful to the supervising physician. Performs various procedures under the supervision of the physician, including suturing and care of wounds, placement of arterial and venous catheters, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, placement and/or removal of chest tubes, and dressing changes. Performs advanced surgical procedures according to privileged credentials. Assists the physicians in the hospital by making patient rounds, recording patient progress notes, compiling, and recording discharge summaries, and accurately writing and executing orders under the supervision of a physician and with physician. Performs independently evaluative and treatment procedures necessary to provide an appropriate response to life-threatening emergency situations. Issues written prescription orders for drugs under the supervision of the physician. Assists in the delivery of medical care to the patient by reviewing and monitoring treatment and therapy.
Position RequirementCompletion of an Accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program
Physician Assistant- National Board Certification
Nurse Practitioner- Licensed as a Nurse and approved to practice as a NP by State of Texas
BLS and ACLS required
Ability to read and communicate effectively.
