JOB TITLE: Ortho-Hip & Knee Physician Assistant
Originally founded in 1975, Lowcountry Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is among Charleston’s leading and longest-standing orthopedic groups. Lowcountry Orthopaedics offers the most advanced comprehensive orthopedic care in the region and is seeking an experienced Physician Assistant to join our team. This position will work as a surgical first assist and diagnose & treat Ortho- Hip & Knee patients in an outpatient clinical setting.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
· Surgical first assist for Hip & Knee cases in both ASC and Hospital
· Hospital rounds
· Outpatient Clinic to include comprehensive and problem-focused history and physical examinations, interpreting lab and diagnostic procedures to establish working diagnosis, performing diagnostic therapeutic procedures in office.
JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
· Knowledge of professional Physician Assistant theory and practice.
· Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations, and procedures to administer patient care.
· Basic knowledge of CPT and ICD-9 coding.
· Ability to maintain quality control standards.
· Moderate computer skills and experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
· Display a courteous, positive, and helpful attitude to patients, their families, staff, and physicians to include a pleasant speaking voice and demeanor.
· Comfortable working in a team environment consisting of staff, physicians, patients, and outside vendors.
· Demonstrate reliability and motivation. Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
· Accurately follow surgery center/hospital procedures and protocols with minimum supervision.
EDUCATION: Master’s in Physician Assistant’s required.
EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years of experience in a physician office or hospital to include
the diagnosis and treatment of patients and assisting physician(s) in surgery
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE: Current SC Physician Assistant licensure.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Job duties are primarily performed in a sterile operating room or typical clinic office environment. Requires exposure to communicable diseases and body fluids. Must observe universal safety precautions to avoid contraction of disease. Requires working under stressful conditions and working long, irregular hours.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Auditory and visual acuity is necessary. Requires standing for long periods of time. Must have the physical and mental stamina required for long or difficult cases and emergency call. Must be able to assist in the transfer and positioning of patients of all sizes. Occasionally required to lift and carry items up to 50 pounds.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $98,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
