Full Job Description


This position is directly responsible for the evaluation, care, treatment and services consistent with Diagnostic Imaging. Utilizes professional training in order to perform a number of medical procedures. All work is performed under the supervision of a Physician but requires judgements and interpretations to complete.


Independently perform procedures determined in accordance with observed competencies. They may be accompanied by fluoroscopy guidance procedures (not limited to) including sonohystogram, hysterosalpingogram, arthrogram, GI fluoroscopy exams, therapeutic injection, CCTA procedure assistance, and thyroid biopsies.

Assist in pre, intra and post-procedure management of patients.

Minor wound care and management.

Request for rehabilitative services, respiratory therapy, radiologic and medical/surgical consultations.

Ordering and preliminary interpretation of diagnostic studies including laboratory, diagnostic imaging and electrocardiographic examinations.

Issuing prescriptions, where applicable.

Completing H & P consent forms.

Completing pre and post procedure orders.

Dictating of patient records.

Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Maintains professional learning, specifically the annual requirement of 25 continuing medical education hours.


  • Completed an accredited physician assistant program.
  • Current unrestricted licensure to practice as a physician in the State of Rhode Island and Massachusetts
  • Current certification by the National Commission on the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
  • Maintain active ACLS/BLS certification.
  • Professional liability insurance coverage of a type and in the amount as required by the Board of Trustees.
  • Current unrestricted DEA and RI Controlled substance registration (if applicable).
