Position Overview
Providence St. Joseph Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Neonatology team providing care across two major hospitals in Portland: Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. This is a full-time, permanent position offering an exceptional opportunity to practice in a well-established, high-acuity neonatal care setting within one of the region’s most respected health systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced clinical care to critically ill and premature newborns in Level III and IV NICU settings
- Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization in delivery rooms
- Conduct procedures including intubation, umbilical line placement, lumbar puncture, and more (as scope permits)
- Manage comprehensive neonatal care in collaboration with neonatologists, nursing staff, and pediatric specialists
- Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, family meetings, and care planning
- Ensure timely and accurate documentation using the electronic health record (EHR) system
- Work scheduled shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating team
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current license as a Nurse Practitioner or PA in the state of Oregon, or eligibility to obtain
- Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) certification preferred for NPs
- Minimum of 1–2 years of NICU experience preferred (new grads with NICU RN background encouraged to apply)
- NRP certification required
- Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and collaborative skills
