Position Overview

Providence St. Joseph Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Neonatology team providing care across two major hospitals in Portland: Providence Portland Medical Center and Providence St. Vincent Medical Center. This is a full-time, permanent position offering an exceptional opportunity to practice in a well-established, high-acuity neonatal care setting within one of the region’s most respected health systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver advanced clinical care to critically ill and premature newborns in Level III and IV NICU settings
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation and stabilization in delivery rooms
  • Conduct procedures including intubation, umbilical line placement, lumbar puncture, and more (as scope permits)
  • Manage comprehensive neonatal care in collaboration with neonatologists, nursing staff, and pediatric specialists
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds, family meetings, and care planning
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation using the electronic health record (EHR) system
  • Work scheduled shifts including days, nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a rotating team

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Current license as a Nurse Practitioner or PA in the state of Oregon, or eligibility to obtain
  • Neonatal Nurse Practitioner (NNP-BC) certification preferred for NPs
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of NICU experience preferred (new grads with NICU RN background encouraged to apply)
  • NRP certification required
  • Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and collaborative skills
