Full Job Description
Portland Pain Relief is a pain management and behavioral health specialty practice located in Clackamas, OR that specializes in treating patients suffering from acute/chronic pain, depression, anxiety, ptsd and more. We are seeking a Washington State licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. The role involves evaluation of new patients, treatment plans, medication management patient education, documentation and interventional procedures under the supervision of our board certified anesthesiologist/interventional pain physician medical director.
Key responsibilities
- Patient assessment: Conduct thorough evaluations, including taking comprehensive medical histories, performing physical examinations, and reviewing past treatments to determine the cause and intensity of the patient’s pain.
- Treatment planning: Formulate and implement personalized treatment plans. This involves utilizing a range of therapies, including pharmacological interventions, physical and complementary therapies, and psychological counseling.
- Medication management: Prescribe medications, including controlled substances when permitted by state regulations, and monitor their effectiveness. This includes educating patients on safe medication use to prevent dependency and misuse.
- Interventional procedures: Under physician supervision, perform or assist with in-office or inpatient procedures such as trigger point, musculoskeletal, or joint injections.
- Patient education: Educate patients and their families on pain management strategies, lifestyle modifications, and self-care techniques to empower them to manage their conditions.
- Collaboration and coordination: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, physical therapists, pharmacists, and other specialists, to ensure a comprehensive and holistic approach to patient care.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR) detailing patient assessments, care plans, and progress.
- Triage and communication: Respond to patient calls and messages, evaluate patient problems, and coordinate patient care activities.
Necessary qualifications and skills
- Education: A master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program.
- Licensure and certification:
- Physician Assistant: Must be certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Nurse Practitioner: Must be a nationally certified Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
- Must hold a current, unrestricted state license to practice.
- Requires a DEA license for prescriptive authority.
- BLS and ACLS certification may be required.
- Clinical experience: While some positions may be open to new graduates, many require at least one or more years of experience in pain management, internal medicine, or a related specialty.
- Interpersonal skills: Excellent communication, empathy, and patient-centered care skills are crucial for building rapport with patients, many of whom are experiencing long-term, complex pain.
- Organizational skills: The ability to manage a high volume of patients, prioritize tasks, and work independently is essential in both outpatient and inpatient settings.
Compensation
Part time or Full time considered. $80-$120/hour ….$160,000-$220,000 DOE.
Production bonus.
