Physician Assistants/Doctors

Location: New York Schedule: Per diem Pay Range: $60 – $80/hr

Job Summary We are seeking dedicated and compassionate Physician Assistants/Doctors to join our multidisciplinary team in a dynamic urgent care and primary care setting. The ideal candidates will provide high-quality medical care to a diverse patient population, addressing a wide range of acute and chronic health issues. In addition to general medical responsibilities, the Physician Assistants/Doctors will perform specialized physical examinations for patients requiring DOT/TLC/CDL certifications. This role demands excellent clinical skills, a profound understanding of regulatory requirements, and a commitment to patient-centered care.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Patient Care and Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Comprehensive Medical Evaluations:
  • Conduct thorough physical examinations for patients of all ages.
  • Assess and manage acute illnesses, injuries, and exacerbations of chronic conditions.
  • Interpret diagnostic tests, including laboratory results and imaging studies.
  • Chronic Disease Management:
  • Develop and implement management plans for chronic conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, and asthma.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatments accordingly.
  • Minor Procedures:
  • Perform procedures such as suturing, wound care, splinting, incision and drainage, and foreign body removal.
  • Administer medications, injections, and vaccinations as appropriate.
  • Preventive Care and Health Promotion:
  • Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications, nutrition, exercise, and smoking cessation.
  • Conduct routine screenings for conditions like hyperlipidemia, osteoporosis, and cancer.

2. DOT/CDL/TLC Physical Examinations:

  • Physical Exams:
  • Conduct examinations in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines.
  • Evaluate drivers’ physical and mental fitness to safely operate commercial vehicles.
  • Complete and issue Medical Examiner’s Certificates for qualified individuals.
  • CDL Medical Certifications:
  • Perform medical evaluations for individuals seeking or renewing a Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Identify any medical conditions that may disqualify applicants and provide guidance on required interventions.
  • TLC Physical Examinations:
  • Assess taxi and limousine drivers to ensure compliance with Taxi and Limousine Commission health requirements.
  • Complete necessary documentation for TLC licensure applications and renewals.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay current with federal, state, and local regulations related to DOT, CDL, and TLC examinations.
  • Ensure all examinations and documentation meet regulatory standards.

3. Collaborative Care and Coordination:

  • Team Collaboration:
  • Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated care.
  • Participate in case discussions, care planning, and interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Patient Education:
  • Communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and follow-up care.
  • Provide educational resources to enhance patient understanding and engagement.
  • Referral Management:
  • Identify the need for specialist consultations and facilitate appropriate referrals.
  • Coordinate care transitions and ensure continuity of services.

4. Administrative Duties and Documentation:

  • Electronic Medical Records (EMR):
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatments, and prescribed medications.
  • Utilize EMR systems efficiently to enhance patient care and clinic operations.
  • Prescription Management:
  • Prescribe medications, including controlled substances, adhering to Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations.
  • Monitor patient adherence and respond to prescription refill requests appropriately.
  • Billing and Coding:
  • Assist with proper coding of services for billing purposes.
  • Ensure documentation supports the codes used for accurate reimbursement.

5. Professional Development and Quality Improvement:

  • Continuing Education:
  • Engage in ongoing learning to keep abreast of the latest medical advances and best practices.
  • Quality Assurance:
  • Contribute to the development and revision of clinic policies and procedures.

6. Regulatory Compliance and Ethics:

  • Confidentiality and Privacy:
  • Uphold patient confidentiality in compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.
  • Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Ethical Practice:
  • Exercise sound judgment and adhere to ethical principles in all aspects of patient care.
  • Advocate for patients’ rights and well-being.

Job Requirements Education and Experience:

  • PA/MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and licensed to practice in New York.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Infection Control Training, with a strong understanding of HIPAA Compliance.
  • Valid DE/DOT/TLC/CDL Registration/Certification
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Strong candidates will work well with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and allied health professionals, upholding the mission of Health Care Protectors through clarity, thoughtfulness, and respect for all.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish and English) are preferred, but not required.
  • Interest in working for a growth-oriented healthcare organization that prioritizes holistic patient care.
