Work Shifts
8:00 A.M – 4:00 P.M
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The bariatric PA in this role with provide perioperative and weight loss management of bariatric patients in collaboration with our existing bariatric staff in the outpatient setting.
- The bariatric PA will provide first robotic assist in the operating room after training and approval.
- The bariatric PA will round on inpatient bariatric patients and provide post-op care including nursing orders, discharge. This will be in conjunction with the surgical residents.
- Bariatric PA will preop patients for day of surgery.
- The bariatric PA will participate in quality bariatric meetings were patient safety, surgical quality of care, case volume, and department protocols will be discussed.
- The bariatric PA may be asked to do other tasks outside of the Bariatrics Division but within the Department of Surgery. These tasks may include: assisting with other trauma and general surgery clinics, operativeprocedures, patient rounding or consults all as the need arises.
- The bariatric PA may be asked to participate in QAPI projects and other tasks to maintain Quality Assurance and Patient Safety
Minimum Qualifications
1. Current New York State registration as a Physician Assistant; and,2. Current certification issued by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA); and,3. Two years of full time, satisfactory clinical experiences as a Physician Assistant.
