Responsibilities
The Center for Sleep Medicine is an integrated medical group practice with 24 physician sleep medicine specialists (backgrounds from pulmonary, critical care, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, and family practice), three nurse practitioners, one physician assistant, ten registered nurses, and many other support staff. We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our growing practice. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will have the opportunity to work independently while collaborating with Sleep Medicine physicians to meet more complex patients’ needs. Both direct patient care and telemedicine will be utilized, with a focus on adult patients with sleep disordered breathing. The role will involve primarily outpatient care, with the possibility of including the hospital Sleep Consult service depending on the division’s needs. APPs are valuable members of our team, and we are committed to providing ample opportunity for participation in research, quality improvement projects, and leadership roles.
Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Obtain sleep specific histories and physicals
- Order specific sleep diagnostic testing
- Diagnose and manage sleep disorders
- Develop and implement individual patient care plans
- Collaborate with our multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional care
Qualifications
While experience is preferred, we will gladly consider new graduates.
Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an ANP, FNP, or ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.
Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and collaboratively with other health care professionals. Have extensive patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments, and possess ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated. Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members of health care team. Candidate must practice patient-centered evidence-based care.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
