Schedule

The position is full time Monday- Friday. Some night and weekend on-call responsibilities. No Holidays. Applicant must live within 30 minutes of the hospital or be able to respond within 30 minutes while on-call.

Responsibilities

The area of practice is in the cardiac catheterization/EP lab caring for both inpatients and outpatients. The patient population will include patients undergoing procedures in the cardiac catheterization laboratory. This is a full time day shift position plus night/weekend call. There are no holiday requirements.

The APP will provide comprehensive care to cardiology patients. Primary responsibility will be to perform interventional cardiology procedures including but not limited to coronary angiogram/angioplasty, right heart catheterizations, biopsies, complex structural heart procedures and peripheral angiograms. The APP will obtain history and physical findings, initiate appropriate orders, perform procedures and continue to coordinate care throughout the hospital stay. The APP will be expected to manage peri-procedural complications as well. Applicants will be trained to cross cover the holding area and support the area as needed.

The APP will provide verbal and written educational support for patients and their support system. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training. The APP will provide training for the cardiac catheterization staff, affiliated units, cardiology fellows, APP students and referring physician offices.

The APP will be actively involved with quality assurance, departmental improvement projects and team building activities. They will present at morbidity and mortality conferences and be involved in departmental committees. The APP will be accessible to patients and other health care providers in the event of a complication. The APP would be involved in quality improvement projects and give in-service presentations at times.

On-call responsibilities include responding to STEMI alerts, performing emergency procedures, management of post-procedure complications and covering the outpatient answering service. Applicants must arrive to the hospital within 30 minutes or less when called in for STEMI alerts and emergencies while on call.

Applicants must have 2-5 years of experience in cardiology, surgery, or acute care in an organization of comparable size and complexity with a significant level of accomplishment. Must demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge and technical skills, good teaching ability and the desire to learn. Strong preference for candidate who independently engages in problem solving and works well in a complex, team-based environment. Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner

Require a Master’s degree (or pending) as a Nurse Practitioner, an active New York State Registered Nurse license in good standing, an active/pending New York State Nurse Practitioner licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as an Nurse Practitioner.

Physician Assistant

Requires completion (or pending) of an ARC-PA approved Physician Assistant program, an active/pending New York State Physician Assistant licensure in good standing and current/pending national certification as a Physician Assistant by the NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants)

NPs and PAs will demonstrate clinical competence, superior verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal effectiveness and customer relations skills, computer competence and must have an active desire to learn. The APP will participate in the education of learners (students and new employees), using clinical learning experiences, knowledge sharing and skill training.

Pay Range

Pay Range: $47.12- $65.97

The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum annual salary for this faculty position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job’s salary range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations. Incentive-based compensation may also be applicable and will be discussed during the hiring process.
