Credentials
PAs in Michigan are licensed by the Michigan Task Force on Physician's Assistants. Michigan has joined the PA Licensure Compact, which will let PAs licensed in another member state practice here with a compact privilege; privileges are expected to open in early 2027. To prescribe controlled substances in Michigan, a PA also needs a Controlled Substance License from the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Bureau of Professional Licensing, on top of DEA registration.

About the Clinician’s WorkdayThe nurse practitioner will provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgery coverage working 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week including weekends, nights, and weekdays. The clinician will collaborate with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care across the cardiothoracic surgery service line. The position requires board certification and prescriptive authority for comprehensive patient management. Daily responsibilities include managing surgical cases and maintaining accurate documentation for all patient encounters. Additional Job Details Case Load/PPD: 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week. including weekends, nights, and weekdays. Support Staff: Staffing includes 2 APPs on the day shift and 1 APP on the night shift.
