We are currently seeking a well-qualified Physician Assistant (or Nurse Practitioner), to join our provider team. This a full-time opportunity with weekday 12-hour shifts (8-8), rotating weekends, and some holidays (9-5). The ideal candidate should be an experienced Physician Assistant (or Nurse Practitioner), with at least one year of emergency medicine experience being preferred. This position requires an energetic, organized individual that thrives in a fast-paced team environment.
Physician Assistant Clinical Responsibilities:
- Obtains a detailed accurate health history and performs comprehensive physical examination
- Orders, interprets, and evaluates appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests
- Developing an orderly plan for care based on clinical impressions and evidence-based medical guidelines
- Prescribes medications in accordance with State and Federal laws/guidelines
- Referring to appropriate specialists when necessary
- Document, code and bill appropriately per PhysicianOne guidelines.
The Physician Assistant must have a sound working knowledge including clinical presentation, evaluation, and treatment of the following disease states that commonly present, across all age groups:
- Chest Pain & Cardiac Complaints
- Allergic Reactions
- Back Pain
- Cervical Pain
- Fractures & Sprains
- Upper Respiratory Infections
- Asthma & COPD
- Urinary Tract Infections
- Pelvic Infections
- Abscess Care
- Lacerations & Burns
- Abdominal Pain
- Headaches
- Rashes & Skin Infections
- Eye Infections & Injuries
Procedural Skills: Clinical procedure skills Physician Assistant must be qualified to perform:
- Incision and drainage of simple abscesses
- Removal of foreign bodies
- Suturing of simple wounds or lacerations
- Removal of sutures or staples
- Venipuncture and peripheral line placement
- Preparation and administration of subcutaneous, intravenous, and intramuscular medications
- Dressing changes and wound management
- Administration of local anesthesia
- Application of splints
Physician Assistant Qualifications:
- Active State Medical License
- Controlled Substance Registration
- Federal DEA Registration
- Current certification by a national organization as an Advanced Practitioner
- PALS and ACLS Certification
