Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant – Thoracic Surgery, weekend requirement Full Time or Part Time Available!

The nurse practitioner (NP)/physician assistant (PA) is a licensed provider who has acquired a broad range of knowledge and skills. The NP/PA is responsible for the assessment and management of Thoracic Surgery patients in an inpatient setting, medical and/or surgical, including diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, development of appropriate plans of care and ongoing evaluation. The NP/PA works under the supervision of an attending physician and reports directly to the department administrator and chief of thoracic surgery.

This role is for a full-time or part-time inpatient NP/PA with weekend day shift requirements. The NP/PA would be the responding clinician for Thoracic Surgery patients in the PACU, intermediate care units, and surgical floor units, and would be second call for thoracic patients in the SICU. No holidays, nights, or call. Ample Fellow and/or Attending assistance/back-up available 24/7.

  • The appropriate candidate will have successfully completed a graduate level physician assistant program (Masters degree), hold a current valid license or be eligible for licensure as a physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts OR has a Master’s Degree in Nursing, current licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a registered nurse in the expanded role, and national certification in acute care advanced practice nursing.
  • Must have or eligible for, and maintain, a current DEA registration and Massachusetts Controlled Substance Registration
