Job Title : Physician Assistant – Specialty Job Summary :
The Acute Care Physician Assistant will assist in the care of highly acute patients in an inpatient setting. The PA will work in collaboration with the Attending Physician to diagnose and treat acute medical conditions. Coverage is 24/7 and shifts are 12 hours.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Provide comprehensive care for critical care/pulmonary patients including, but not limited to:
- H+P/Consultation services
- Physical examination
- Comprehensive chart review
- Complex medical decision making
- Procedures, such as intubation, central venous lines, indwelling venous and arterial catheters
- Responding to calls for hospitalized and discharged patients
- Collaboration with other services and nursing staff
- Respond to Code Blue/rapid response calls/Stroke alerts
- Provide interpretation of diagnostic tests
- Coordinate and execute patient discharge in collaboration with nursing staff and other service lines as appropriate
- Patient, family, and team member education
- Adhere to mutually agreed upon Clinical Practice Guidelines/Scope of Practice
- Performs other duties as assigned within the appropriate Scope of Practice
- Required Certification:
BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life)
Physician Assistant License from Louisiana State Board of Medical Examiners and Certification by a recognized national professional accrediting organization.
NCCPA-National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants
BLS (Basic Life Support) ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life)
