Full Job Description
FMP Family Psychiatry is seeking a Physician Assistant interested in psychiatry to join our growing private practice in Tampa. This is an excellent opportunity for a PA who wants to develop strong psychiatric skills in a supportive, collaborative environment with direct physician supervision.
New graduates with a genuine interest in psychiatry are welcome to apply. Prior psychiatric experience is helpful but not required. Training will be provided.
About the Practice
FMP Family Psychiatry is a self-pay private psychiatric practice providing personalized care to children, adolescents, and adults. Our approach integrates evidence-based medication management with an understanding of each patient’s psychological, family, social, and developmental context.
Our goal is not simply symptom reduction, but helping patients achieve meaningful and lasting mental wellness.
Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric follow-up appointments
- Complete psychiatric evaluations as training and experience progress
- Provide medication management under physician supervision
- Assess symptoms, treatment response, side effects, and safety concerns
- Develop and update treatment plans in collaboration with the supervising psychiatrist
- Provide patient and family education
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Coordinate care with therapists, primary care physicians, schools, and other professionals when appropriate
- Participate in supervision, case discussion, and ongoing psychiatric education
The position will begin with a gradual patient load, allowing time for training, supervision, and development of psychiatric clinical skills.
Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
- Current or eligible Florida PA license
- NCCPA certification
- Interest in psychiatry and mental health
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Comfortable working with a diverse patient population
- Reliable, organized, and able to complete documentation in a timely manner
- Willingness to learn and participate in ongoing supervision
Prior psychiatry experience is welcome but not required. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Schedule
This position will begin with a very limited patient schedule and grow gradually as the PA develops a patient panel. Hours are not guaranteed and will increase based on patient volume and practice needs.
Compensation
$60–$70 per hour, W-2
Compensation within the range will be based on experience and psychiatric training.
