Job Overview
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with a very strong psychiatric treatment background to oversee the psychiatric care of clients within a six-bed residential treatment program near UCLA in Bel Air. You would make visits to the progam three times per week of day and time of your own choosing. During these visits you will meet with all 6 clients and document the visit, you will make psychiatric medication adjustements as necessary and you will audit the medication chart record for accurancy. You will be on call for questions and requests by the manager, especially when medication adjustments are necessary between visits. You must a have a very patient and warm personality for this role because this is as much about puttting the clients at ease and reassuring them as it is about medication management. You must be highly reliable and keep the visit schedule you create but the visits are fairly easy and you create your own schedule. The typical length of time for the visits is about 75-90 minutes each. You will have the support of our medical director, but you must be highly confident of your skills and be able to work autonomously
Responsibilities
make in person visit 3 times per week
see initial admit patients via virtual video call (zoom) on day of admission
Reconcile medications for new admits
document all visits in EHR
prescribe psychiatric medications (must have valid DEA and be able to prescribe narcotics)
audit medication dispensing log filled out by staff
on call by phone for questions by manager
Skills
- Expertise in diagnosing and treating psychiatric conditions including: schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, psycosis, bi polar disorder, mania, major depression with suicidal ideation, severe anxiety, ADHD
- Strong knowledge and expertise prescribing and managing psychiatric medications with understanding of dosages, side effects, clinical usages, safety
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with patients
- Ability to handle crisis situations with professionalism and composre while providing critical interventions.
Pay: $2,100.00 – $2,300.00 per month
