Full Job Description

Physician Assistant – Spine SurgeryDesert Spine and Scoliosis Center – Phoenix, AZ

Grow Your Career. Make an Impact. Change Lives.

We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Physician Assistant (PA-C) to join our dynamic team, working side-by-side with Dr. Rafath Baig, a fellowship-trained, board-certified spine surgeon, and our experienced midlevel provider. This is an outstanding opportunity to deepen your expertise in spine care, both in the clinic and in the operating room, while making a real difference in the lives of patients suffering from spine-related conditions.

Who We Are:We’re a private surgical practice passionate about delivering personalized, high-quality care to patients with spine disorders. With both clinic and dedicated surgical days, we offer a diverse and engaging work environment. We value meaningful patient relationships, clinical excellence, and teamwork.

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage your own clinic schedule: assess, examine, and treat new patients, post-op patients, pre-op visits, and follow-ups.
  • Take thorough patient histories and perform detailed physical exams.
  • Develop and document treatment plans in our electronic health records (EHR) system.
  • Travel once a week to our satellite office to see patients in clinic.
  • Learn to interpret X-rays, MRIs, and CT scans—and translate those findings into treatment decisions.
  • Educate patients about their conditions, treatments, and what to expect both before and after surgery.
  • First-assist in spine surgeries (training provided), including independent wound closure and post-op care.
  • Collaborate closely with Dr. Baig and the care team to ensure optimal outcomes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Licensed PA-C in Arizona.
  • NCCPA certification.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
  • If you’re an NP: RNFA preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment, excellent bedside manner, and clear communication skills.
  • Independent, adaptable, and eager to learn.
  • Surgical experience preferred (6 months to 1 year minimum O.R. time strongly preferred)—but we’re open to the right candidate who brings enthusiasm and is willing to grow.
  • Proficiency or willingness to learn suturing, sterile technique, and post-op management.

Why Join Us?

  • Hands-on surgical experience with mentorship from a skilled spine surgeon.
  • Opportunity to build long-term patient relationships and become a subject matter expert in spine care.
  • Competitive salary based on experience.
  • Bonus structure to reward your dedication and contributions.
  • A collaborative, supportive team that values professional development.
